Having a Turtle and a Donkey as their mascots has given them a brand that everyone loves. Reaching their Ten Year mark is a huge accomplishment and it’s brought on some fun creative ideas to once again bring these two hugely successful small businesses together. This kid’s chapter book loosely tells a story of these two animal characters, Moe the Turtle and Eddie the Donkey, shaping a bit of their looks and personalities from the dynamic duo business owners. Enter Freddie, who represents not only the young son of Moises, that has grown up with these businesses, but also all the kids growing up in Cocoa Beach. The adventures taken here share a message of the love for our beach, our ocean, our community, our environment, and our favorite restaurant and ice cream shop, The Tiny Turtle and The Fat Donkey! I want to thank the amazing author and graphic artist of this fantastical book, Brian Veal, who took on this project with only a vague vision that I had. I really wanted to capture and memorialize this Ten Year Anniversary with something special and fun. He completely surpassed any expectation I had! Be sure to follow and support any other projects he has. He has a gift of creativity like no other.
It’s hard to remember the beginning days, but we have enjoyed this journey and look forward to the future. So many have been with us from the beginning! So many have grown with us! Our community has welcomed us! Our visitors have sought us out! We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for our loyal customers spreading the word about our one of a kind Caribbean Fusion Cuisine and our neighbors delicious ice cream. The perfect combo for a casual dining out experience. We’ve made it this far! Let’s keep it going!
You will notice in this story here that it shares a message for the love of our ocean, which I have always had. Being in the restaurant business has inspired me to address the importance of making choices that support environmental sustainability. We, at The Tiny Turtle, have embraced being a Surfrider Ocean Friendly Restaurant and look to inspire others in our industry and our loyal customers to make choices to lessen their environmental footprint. If you don’t need a straw, skip the straw! If you don’t need utensils, skip the utensils! If we only take and give what we need, we support each other in lessening that footprint.
